Quivira National Wildlife Refuge
Today my wife and I drove over to Quivira National Wildlife Refuge just south of Lyons Kansas. Growing up in western Kansas (Scott City), I have never had the opportunity to visit, so today was the day.
We arrived at about 8:00am and had the entire refuge almost to ourselves. We only encountered two other cars during our tour of the facility.
While driving around the salt marshes, we both kept saying that it looked a lot like the Florida
Everglades. We lived in Miami for 17 years and visited the Everglades National Park often. Water was everywhere and the shore birds as well. The only thing we did not see was the alligators!
Enjoy!
